Palm Sunday
Chicago, IL. Doing without palms on Palm Sunday is a small thing, but nevertheless a reminder of the current state of the world. So when one of our team leaders was able to pass out palm branches on Palm Sunday, the small gift brought joy to those who received them. Our Lord reminds us, “And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because he is a disciple–amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.” (Matt. 10:42.)

As you know, all churches are locked down most everywhere, and the same holds true for Chicago. Christians everywhere had to celebrate Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week, from their homes. And while many watched Mass on TV, or took personal time to read scripture and pray to honor the day, it just isn’t the same as going to church.
There are, however, a handful that have special permission to hold Mass, and one of them is St. John Cantius in downtown Chicago. A friend of mine was there today at an outdoor Mass and brought us a handful and asked us to distribute them. So we drove around giving out palms for Palm Sunday. Everyone was so appreciative. Every little thing we do matters!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Be encouraged, recalling that every little gesture of love during this pandemic matters.
