The following story comes to us from team leader Fr. Ignatius with our team in Griswold, CT:
Ave Maria!
A couple of weeks ago, the Griswold Team went to Mystic, CT to engage the tourists and, honestly, it was the worst experience I’ve ever had in the many hours of doing street evangelization…almost nobody was interested in receiving a Miraculous Medal or having a conversation. Whether or not we should return was a matter of discernment. Should we “shake the dust off our feet” (Mt 10:14) and move to another place in hopes of finding better soil (Mt 13:8) or should we give it another chance, fertilizing Mystic with more prayer and sacrifice (Lk 13:8)? I asked various people and the consensus was that we should return to Mystic, so that’s what we did. I also asked a handful of people to pray while we were out there.
The difference was unbelievable! We gave away more medals and had better conversations in the first ten minutes than the entire previous outing. In the short time we were out there (roughly 75 min), we gave out around 40 Miraculous Medals, a handful of people put the medals on right away, while several received “Why Be Catholic” pamphlets. I will take that as a learning point to not give up too soon on a location with lots of foot traffic. We give thanks to God!
Praised be Jesus Christ!
StoryThe next day was much cooler (Bless the Lord) as we setup again. We encountered quite a lot more Catholics who were coming out of Mass including some of our friends. They…
