The following story comes to us from team leader Anne with our new Detroit Criminal Justice Center team in Detroit, Michigan:
While visiting a female pod a few months ago and proclaiming the Gospel, the topic of forgiveness came up. Multiple women nodded their heads in agreement about the importance of forgiveness. “Perhaps we could forgive those that have hurt you right now.” I said. I was hopeful! The women indicated that they’d like to do this. They were asked to say, “ In the name of Jesus, I forgive (quietly fill in the name of the person or persons) for (quietly fill in the offense).” We went through this multiple times slowly and they were reminded that forgiveness is between them and God. There were tears, there were smiles, and we had the sense that Jesus was healing hearts. Hallelujah!
