The following report comes to us from team leader Sharon with our St. Raphael parish team in Crystal, Minnesota:
Our evangelists/prayer team today were Pete, Phil, Rich, Sharon and seminarian Matthew. He just finished his Theology II year of seminary and is assigned to our parish as his teaching parish, to help him learn about things that are required of parish priests. He’s from the Diocese of Sioux Falls and attends St. Paul Seminary. He usually spends one weekend a month with us, but is staying in our rectory this summer. We jotted down 11 prayer intentions, but we had a few more people stop by besides those. One was a teen who stopped by to receive a new chain and medal. The chain he had received previously was broken.
M wanted prayers for purity. L and K wanted prayer for their upcoming marriage in August. A grandmother stopped by with prayer requests for her two grandkids. S wanted prayers for her daughter with fetal alcohol syndrome. Friends and family do not understand A’s issues so S feels caught in between friends/family and A. S and A wanted prayers for their neighbor who is 74 and still working. S became quite emotional during the discussion.
R is celebrating 9 months of sobriety and is on a waitlist for a liver transplant. She asked prayers for healing and continued sobriety. She mentioned her father is a parishioner at St. Raphael. R was taken to our adoration for private prayer time and was told how to request an access code to our chapel.
M wanted prayers for Christian unity and outreach for the community. She (as well as all who stopped) were told about our upcoming Free Food, Friendship and Faith Thursdays. M was also given one of our Word on Fire Bibles that were graciously donated to SPSE teams. C stopped by to express praise to God for blessings in his life especially for protection received during a recent seizure. Finally, F came by. She has a very busy life with four children and working full time. On top of that, her husband had surgery the day before and they recently moved.
