The following report comes to us from team leader Dcn. Alex with our Catholic Charismatic Center Outreach with our team in Houston, Texas:
Over the past three Saturdays, our team has been standing outside Shell Energy Stadium and evangelizing soccer fans who are going to the FIFA FanFest festivities. This is a family friendly area where the public can watch matches on giant screens for free. There are also free live concerts, cultural programming, interactive games, and food trucks. We handed out hundreds of rosaries and sacramentals. Many heard/received the Gospel including prophetic words from Our Lord through our evangelists, which encouraged them in faith. Hundreds were given Mass time handouts for the Houston Catholic Charismatic Center and the Church of the Annunciation. It was a great opportunity to reach people not only from America, but from all over the world! Traffic was pretty steady, so we’re hoping that some seeds were planted.
We were able to pray with dozens of people, with many committing to follow Jesus. Specifically, two young Hispanic men came up for prayer (one was wearing the jersey of Luis Hernandez, a Mexican national team player, also known as “El Matador”.) They seemed reverent and open to receiving God’s blessings.
Later we met a beautiful young couple and their young baby who was being pushed in a stroller. We prayed over the child and the parents, as it can be challenging balancing life’s duties and parenthood.
Regardless of which team winds up winning the World Cup, we pray that God wins the hearts and souls of all in attendance!
Praised be Jesus Christ!
