Main Street - September 16, 2023

Created: Sep 20, 2023
From our evangelist Mary Ann:
High spirits on the street . It was a joyful day. The sun was shining and so seemed everyone’s spirits . A daddy & daughter stopped by to pick out and talk about the rosary. Dad took a rosary pamphlet to teach his young daughter how to say the rosary. One young man , maybe in his late 20s, hustling by to pick up dinner, saw our “ want prayer” sign and stopped happily saying, “ There’s always time for prayer!” He spoke of his grandmother always taking him to church and praying with him. He wanted us to pray for good health and for him to be surrounded by good people in his life. One interesting man who stopped by to talk to us called himself a “wishy washy Catholic”explaining he had one parent who was Catholic and another Protestant and he himself had spent some time in the East and was drawn to Hinduism. We spoke of the Gospel of Jesus and of following the straight line down from Pope Francis to St Peter and Jesus who established His Church. He listened intently. He took the Gospel card and the “ Why be Catholic “ pamphlet . To another gentleman we spoke of the power of Confession. He took the pamphlet on “ Confession” as well as the IC Church confession schedule. We met a delightful trio of young men. One stopped by asking about the Miraculous Medal and the history of it. We spoke of Blessed Mother and St Katherine Labore . We gave him the Medal and the card explaining it. When we said we would pray for them and asked them to pray for us , they all happily gave us their names . All in all it was a great day on the street in Somerville. I think the public seem be truly grateful for our Catholic Presence. What a gift to be there.
