The following report comes to us from team leader Lucy with our team in Boise, ID:
Went out evangelizing on Trinity Sunday (Memorial Day weekend). Lots of families were out enjoying the pleasant weather, and some of them stopped to visit us. The fountain was going for the first time this season. Several families with very small children were playing in it.
A man stopped, asking, “Catholic truth? What about Jesus’ truth?” He was trying to distinguish between Catholic and Christian missions. “John”, who was still talking with Chuck, interjected that the word “catholic” means universal. I took the ball and clarified that the Catholic mission is precisely to spread the news of Jesus Christ universally, that is, throughout the world. I then showed our visitor how the Rosary is a series of meditations on the life of Christ. He accepted a Rosary and the pamphlet on how to pray it. May Our Blessed Lady lead him all the way home to the Catholic Church!
A young couple, who did not know what the Rosary was but believed in Jesus, chose a Rosary each. Chuck talked to the woman, who was intrigued by the prayer’s deep look into Christ’s life as seen through his Mother’s loving eyes, and by the invitation of the Rosary to love Jesus with the love of a mother. May Mother Mary strengthen their walk with her Son.
A young family enthusiastically came to the table. The father said he knew what the Rosary was because he was baptized Catholic. Unfortunately, he now identified as a non-Catholic Christian. I engaged the man in conversation about the Rosary. Chuck tried to get the wife interested, but she turned her attention to the child, smiled, and said one Rosary was enough for them. May that one Rosary, indeed, be the mustard seed of the Church in their lives.
Praised be Jesus Christ!
