Stories from the Street

Warren, MI. Sometimes the struggles of life can really weigh us down, and we can start to forget God’s goodness and begin to stray. God knows that, which is why He’s ready and willing to give us relief as a reminder of His steadfast love and generosity. The scripture passage from Jeremiah 29:11 is often quoted for a reason…because it’s something we desperately need to remember. The following encounter is another helpful reminder.
Today’s story comes to us from Br. John at our national office in Warren, MI:
Gija came into the parish office next door for help with supplies. When offered prayer, she explained how she and her family are struggling with finding work and the severe pain she was having from her wrist that had a bandage over it. After praying the pain went down by more than half, then after a second prayer the pain was totally gone! Thanks be to God!
Gija is a non-practicing Orthodox Christian. She hadn’t been to Mass for more than 7 months but after this encounter with Jesus she is now open to going to Mass and confession. Father Lam was present and gave her a blessing and we exchanged contact info in case she wanted more prayer. We gave her a Gospel, Medal, and podcast card and all left rejoicing in the Lord!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Remember to call on the Lord if life is getting too heavy to bear. And if your strength or faith is weak, ask someone to intercede for you!
