The following story comes to us from team leader Lucy with our team in Boise, ID:

A few of our encounters could have been anything but peaceful. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

A fashionably dressed 30-something couple approached our table but seemed uncomfortable. The man asked us to explain the Rosary. The evangelist asked if they were Christian. They were. So, she described the Rosary as a series of Christ-centered meditations. After hearing that, the man accepted a copy of the Rosary pamphlet from me, and the woman took the one that Nancy offered her. Neither, however, chose a Rosary. Lord, bless these people for their respectful approach and grant unity again among all Christians.

A short woman passed by, bundled up against the cool breeze and showing only part of her face through her head scarves. She angrily declined our offer of a Rosary, walking rapidly on. Because the sound system was turned up so loud, about the only words we caught were “racism” and “restitution”. May God calm her anger and heal her heart.

A homeless-looking man responded to our offer of a free Rosary and headed to the table, bringing along his mellow dog, which strangely smelled of an illicit substance. The man chose a Rosary and accepted its pamphlet on how to pray it. Then, he started complaining that he’d lost his wallet, perhaps as a prelude to asking us for money. However, just then a group of three or four teens came to the table, interested in the Rosary. Our attention turned to them (since we don’t bring money with us (cf. Mark 6:8)). So, the man took his leave.

We gave away 20-25 Rosaries and its pamphlet, as well as 1 Our Lady Untier of Knots prayer card.

Please pray for us, asking God to send us people whose hearts are prepared to see their need for Jesus and His Holy Catholic Church, so that much good fruit may come from today’s efforts. We credit Him for the peace He grants during our outings and thank you sincerely for your prayers and support of this apostolate—may God in turn protect and greatly bless you and all those you love.
