Stories from the Street
ROYAL OAK, MI – The Royal Oak Team went out evangelizing downtown Royal Oak, at what is known as the “Spooktacular.” The Spooktacular is a Halloween event for the whole family. Parents were invited to bring their children in their Halloween costumes for trick-or-treating at downtown businesses on from 2-4 pm. The Spooktacular proved to be quite a “Spectacular” event for our evangelists. In under two hours, over 500 rosaries and “How to Pray the Rosary” pamphlets were shared with our trick-or-treaters. The best part is that the parents were asking if they could have one too. Many parents were heard saying, “This is so wonderful that you are doing this.” After they ran out of rosaries, it gave us a chance to evangelize the parents with Miraculous Medals; so much so, that over 200 medals were shared. Many had not heard of the appearance of our Blessed Mother to St. Catherine Laboure. It seemed like there was something about the “Spooktacular” event that made many ears open to the actions of the Holy Spirit. The team, and those they met, were truly blessed that day.
Offering rosaries and other sacramentals is a great way to “break the ice,” to open people up to God, Christ, and to prayer, and to introduce them to the Catholic Church. Many of our teams use this method. We need more team members and more teams to share the Good News. Join us!
